Enhance communication with South Dakota legislators and other regional elected officials by sponsoring Legislative Hostings in Sioux Falls
Support to the Sioux Empire Housing Partnership’s efforts to provide more affordable housing opportunities, build and sell two governor’s houses annually, and facilitate the homebuyer education and foreclosure mediation programs
The Goal

Lewis and Clark PipelineTo advocate for the policies, infrastructure and amenities necessary to ensure the Sioux Falls MSA grows effectively and sustainably.

Through the efforts of local government and community and business leadership, the Sioux Falls MSA continues to grow steadily. Sound planning in both the public and private sectors will enable our region to maintain its dynamic quality of life and business climate that have fueled its strong growth. Advocacy is an important component in successful coordination of efforts to develop government policies that are favorable and supportive of continued economic growth and expansion.

Advocacy for Business
Forward Sioux Falls will continue its aggressive lobbying efforts to effectively influence sound policy decision-making. We will participate in statewide initiatives and referendums that impact the Sioux Falls MSA. We will advocate for favorable and realistic policy positions on local, state and federal legislation.

Lobbying at the local, state and federal levels will continue for projects and issues that enhance economic development, as well as other federal legislative issues affecting us. We will lobby to create a competitive climate and culture for research and development projects in the Sioux Falls area.

Infrastructure
We will continue to advocate for economic development incentives at the federal, state and local levels as well as assist in planning for and developing infrastructure needed for sustainable quality growth in the Sioux Falls MSA. Community leaders will be engaged to assist in lobbying efforts with the City of Sioux Falls for major infrastructure projects such as the downtown railroad relocation, 85th Street interchange on Interstate 29 and other needs. We will work with other South Dakota communities to research local options for alternatives that could provide funding for locally-approved projects, subject to approval by voters in each South Dakota community. Forward Sioux Falls will continue to provide lobbying efforts in partnership with local government for critically-needed funding for roads, bridges and other priority projects for the Sioux Falls area.

Affordable Housing
Through the efforts of the Sioux Empire Housing Partnership (SEHP), an affiliate of the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, more residents are able to become homeowners and become educated about the homebuying process. Forward Sioux Falls efforts will continue core programs, such as the Homebuyer Education and Foreclosure Mediation programs of the SEHP. The SEHP will also partner with the City of Sioux Falls on revitalizing the Pettigrew Heights neighborhood and other central city neighborhoods.
